Bright Start Childcare & Learning Center was founded in 2020 by Beata Welsh, M.A., SLP-CCC, a master’s-level clinician with more than 20 years of experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Beata created Bright Start Childcare & Learning Center with a passion for providing children with a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where they can learn, grow, and build the skills they need for success.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child. Through purposeful play, early literacy, mathematics, science exploration, art, music, sensory experiences, outdoor learning, and collaborative activities, children develop critical thinking skills, creativity, communication, independence, and self-confidence. We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged, encouraged to ask questions, and inspired to explore the world around them.
Bright Start Childcare & Learning Center is fully licensed and insured by the State of Maine and proudly meets or exceeds all state licensing requirements. We successfully complete all required inspections and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
Our caring and dedicated educators are passionate about helping children succeed. Every staff member completes a comprehensive hiring process, including fingerprinting and background checks, and participates in ongoing professional development throughout the year. All educators maintain the training required by the State of Maine, including First Aid and CPR certification, Health and Safety Orientation, Mandated Reporter Training, Infectious Disease Prevention, Protective Factors, Infant Safe Sleep, Period of PURPLE Crying, and much more. Under the leadership of our Owner and Director, who holds a master’s degree and brings more than 20 years of experience in education and child development, our team is committed to providing the highest quality care and education for every child.

I had the pleasure of visiting the daycare today with my therapy dog, Ellie! The staff and children were so wonderful! The children were great listeners and used gentle hands with Ellie. My sons love it here. They have a lot of fun, and some days even ask if they can stay longer when I pick them up. At the same time, I have seen a big improvement with them when it comes to their speech, they are constantly asking questions now, and they have improved in just about every area tremendously. In this day and age when both parents have to work you want a safe place for your children to grow and learn. I feel that Bright Start Childcare & Learning Center provides that and is giving them an amazing start to life.

My 3 y/o twins love to go to “school” every day. Since starting at Bright Start Childcare and Bright Start Therapy, they barely spoke, and didn’t use the potty. Now they will not stop talking, talking about everything they learn, and are fully potty trained. They are excited to go every day and jplay with their friends, play outside or with the toys. They love the art projects, play with a vast selection of toys, sensory activities, etc.

My daughter is autistic and has made leaps of improvement since attending Bright Start. This is her second year! She has become more confident and comfortable in herself and has gained a wonderful group of friends. The teaching staff has always been attentive and listens to each child’s needs. Knowing your child is being heard and cared for in the way you would also care for your child is extremely valuable. Not every preschool puts in the same effort. Best decision I’ve made was placing my daughter here. All of the teachers are wonderful and friendly with a goal of helping your child develop.
